Breast Milk Ice Cream anyone?
You would think it was April, but London self styled dessert boutique Icecreamists were marketing their ‘Baby Gaga’ ice cream – made from expressed breast milk and turned into a high fashion confection.
The shop had been promoting this for a short while and was using milk from a 15 women who donated their breast milk to the ice cream’s producer, with the breast milk forming up to 20 per cent of the ingredients.
The ice cream was being sold for £14 a serving, and according to the Guradian, is served by a costumed Baby Gaga waitress who serves the ice cream in a martini glass filled with the breast milk ice cream mix. Liquid nitrogen is then poured into the glass through a syringe and it is served with a rusk.
Apparently you can also ask for it to be served with whisky, which seems a bit odd don’t you think?
The first batch of milk came from Victoria Hiley, and the company are apparently offering £15 for every ten ounces and 13 other mothers have already volunteered to donate.
However, the latest news is that Westminster has reportedly seized samples and sent it off for analysis and told the shop to stop selling it.
And now the story has got even stranger as Lady Ga Ga (seen here performing at Madison Square Gardens in February) is threatening to sue, so things just keep getting better for the Icecreamists, assuming that it was publicity they were after…
